What Is DTG Printing and Why We Use It

DTG stands for Direct to Garment. It is the printing method we use for every single piece at The Unplugged Wear — and there is a reason we chose it over every other option.

DTG stands for Direct to Garment. It is the printing method we use for every single piece at The Unplugged Wear — and there is a reason we chose it over every other option.

Screen printing requires minimum order quantities. Iron-on transfers crack and peel. Heat press vinyl does not handle fine detail well. DTG does none of that.

DTG printing works like an inkjet printer — but for fabric. The garment is loaded into the machine, the design is printed directly onto the fibres, and the ink is cured into the fabric. The result is a print that is part of the garment, not sitting on top of it.

What that means for you:
— Fine detail in the graphic comes out clean and sharp
— The print does not crack, peel, or fade with normal washing
— It works on dark fabrics without compromising colour
— No minimum order required — we can print one piece at a time

The only care instruction that matters: wash cold, inside out, no tumble dry, iron only on the reverse. Do that and your print will outlast the fabric itself.
